A Place to Heal and Conquer

Camp Conquer teaches children how to identify, express, and most importantly conquer their emotions through activities that take them through the grief process. Each day, children are broken up into separate age groups so counselors can provide specialized activities and guidance.

Because the camp runs solely on donations and volunteers it is free of charge for all children that attend. It is common for parents to keep up a strong front for children to help them through a loss, but in reality, it may be healthier and more effective to allow children to express their emotions freely in a way that promotes healing.

One donation makes a difference

“When we received the donation for grief counseling specifically for children, we knew we wanted to use it as a launch pad into something greater and more meaningful,” said Catherine Schendel, CEO at The Hospice of Baton Rouge.

“It’s been incredible to see how much support we received hosting Camp Conquer and we look forward to bringing it back even bigger each year to help as many children in our community as possible.”

“Camp Conquer helped my child open up about the loss of his dad in a way he hadn’t before. The caring staff created a fun, safe space where he felt supported and free to express his feelings.”
